This talk marks the Scottish National Portrait Gallery’s exhibition inspired by Sir Anthony Van Dyck’s final Self-Portrait and which considers the theme of male image, identity and appearance from the 16th century to the present day. Dr James Lawson of Edinburgh College of Art turns his own gaze on the iconic male portraits displayed and shares his thoughts on the striking impressions they make.
