- Thursday 08 April
Which painting in the Scottish National Gallery links Queen Victoria, The Beatles, and the sale of whisky? Answer: Landseer’s Monarch of the Glen, which was acquired for the nation in 2017.
In this short talk, Christopher Baker, Director of European and Scottish Art and Portraiture, will discuss its fascinating history. He’ll place the painting in the context of the artist’s extraordinary career and consider its enduring and richly varied reputation.
