Keith Hartley, chief curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, will make an appearance this year at the Edinburgh International Book Festival alongside comic artist Typex.
Hartley's exhibition book Andy Warhol and Eduardo Paolozzi offers a fascinating compare-and-contrast examination of the two artists and their fascination with the machine in their art. Typex's title Andy is a colourful graphic biography of the King of Pop Art. Hartley and Typex come together for this event to interrogate Andy Warhol’s glib self-assessment; ‘There is only surface, with nothing underneath’.
