Virtual Exhibition Experience subscription required
The second of four exclusive live-streamed interactive events in which Hollywood insiders and celebrity super-fans delve into the magical world of Ray Harryhausen.
For our second special live-streamed event, we are joined by one of the most celebrated special effects artists currently working in Hollywood. Along with Alec Gillis, Tom Woodruff, Jr. is behind some of the most iconic creature effects sequences from the last thirty years, working on Alien 3, Jumanji, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Godzilla vs Kong, to name just a few.
Tom has credited the influence of Harryhausen’s films on his early interest in creature effects and, in many ways, moments of his and Alec's careers mirror elements of Ray’s. During this event, Tom will be discussing Ray’s work, and the way it has influenced his own career.
Chaired by Becky Manson from the National Galleries of Scotland.
To take part in this event, all you need to do is to subscribe to the Harryhausen Virtual Exhibition Experience, a specially-curated online exhibition featuring a wealth of exclusive videos, virtual exhibits and more! Subscription to the experience costs £10 - no further charge is required to take part in any of the events.
Unfortunately there will not be captioning during the live-streamed event. However, a captioned video of the event will be made available through the Virtual Experience during the following week.
Friends of the Galleries get free unlimited entry to all exhibitions, and enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits including early exhibition access, special events and 10% discount in our cafes.
