It is now almost four decades since the opening of the Mackintosh House, the Hunterian Art Gallery's faithful reconstruction of the salvaged interiors from the last Glasgow home of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald. The couple's exquisite rooms, enclosed within the Brutalist concrete shell of architect William Whitfield's building, continue to intrigue and delight. Joseph Sharples, Curator of Mackintosh Collections and Applied Art at the Hunterian, has been working on a new interpretation space to explain the complex history of the House to visitors. He will describe the project and its aims.
