The Portrait is located in the city centre near St Andrews Square. It is a ten-minute walk from the National and a 15-minute walk from the Royal Mile.

The Portrait is a few minutes’ cycle from Waverley Station. Take the Waverley Bridge exit, turn right, go up the hill to Princes Street. Turn left, then first right into St Andrew Square. Travel the short distance past St Andrew Square, turning right onto Queen Street. There are cycle parking places at the front of the building.

There is is a tram stop at St Andrew Square which is 2 minutes walk to the Portrait. Form the tram stop, go down North St Andrew Street. The Portrait is on your left at the junction with Queen Street.

The Portrait is a few minutes’ walk from Waverley Station. Take the Princes Street exit, cross the road and walk the short distance through St Andrew Square, turning left onto Queen Street.

Bus numbers 10, 11, 12, 16, 26 and 44 all go past the Portrait. Alternatively, take any Princes Street or city centre bus, to the East end of Princes Street, opposite Waverley Steps and walk through St Andrew Square, turning left onto Queen Street.

Follow routes for city centre and city centre attractions. There is no car park at the Gallery, and very limited on-street parking near the venue. We recommend that you park your car in one of the many city centre car parks instead, the nearest of which is the St James Quarter Car Park.
