About

To meet demand we are also offering an online live stream of the event. Space is very limited, please do not come to the event without a pre-booked ticket.

Assistant curator Freya Spoor will discuss how Sir James Guthrie, a member of the Glasgow Boys, developed this large-scale composition over several months. Using sketches held in the National Galleries of Scotland collection, she will explore some of the challenges he faced when completing this work and how he attempted to resolve them.
