About

To mark the week of this year’s International Women's Day (8 March), Alice Strang, Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Galleries of Scotland, will discuss the 'First Women of the Royal Scottish Academy'. From Christina Robertson (1796-1854) becoming the first female Honorary Member in 1829, to Joyce Cairns (b.1947) being elected the first female President in 2018, Strang will celebrate the eight pioneers who led the way in making the Academy the progressive institution it is today, with equality central to its activities.

This talk will be available from Thursday 11 March via our Friends email newsletter. It is part of a new series of exclusive online talks providing our Friends events programme in a different format. There will be two per month, with each remaining available for two weeks so you can choose when you would like to watch them.

No booking or advance registration is required in order to view these free Friends-only talks. The links to view them will be sent out each fortnight as part of our email newsletter. If you have a Friends membership but do not currently receive our Friends email newsletter, please contact [email protected] to sign up.
