Why not try something new this summer? Bring your little budding artists to a FAB art-filled, FREE day out at Modern One. Create FAB art using a Family Art Basket in our fabulous sculpture park.
Our Family Art Baskets are FREE to borrow every afternoon during the school holidays. In each basket you’ll find lots of creative, fun ideas and materials to help your family have fun making and exploring art together.
In your basket you will find…
- Sculpture materials
- Drawing materials
- A viewfinder to help you focus and see nature in a new way
- Activity ideas to spark your imagination and boost your whole families' confidence in art making
- A picnic blanket
There’s lots to see inside too – visit our families page to plan your visit - and don’t worry if it’s not ‘picnic’ weather – we have a rainy-day art and snacks space inside!

Parking for visitors is available at both Modern One and Modern Two. A donation is requested of £3 for up to 4 hours and £6 for 4-8 hours. Our payment meters have contactless capability. There is free accessible parking for blue badge holders.

The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is located 15 minutes’ walk from Princes Street. It includes two buildings, Modern One and Modern Two, set in a beautiful sculpture park.
