Described by Pevsner as the greatest of the English artist-craftsmen, Ernest Gimson (1864-1919) was a central figure in the British Arts & Crafts Movement. After training in Leicester and London in the 1880s, he moved to the deep countryside of the Cotswolds in 1893. There he established workshops renowned for their distinctive style and superb quality, giving employment to many skilled craftsmen.

This talk, by Annette Carruthers, Honorary Senior Lecturer at St Andrew's University, will cover his work as an architect and designer of furniture, metalwork, plaster decoration and embroidery, as well as his links with several Scottish architect-designers.
