Emil Nolde: Colour is Life

Keith Hartley, Chief Curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, will lead a tour of this exhibition. The German-Danish artist Emil Nolde (1867-1956) identified strongly with the subjects he painted as is demonstrated in this exhibition of around 100 of his 'expressionist'۪ works from his early paintings of his homeland to his late works which he called 'unpainted pictures' because he had been banned from painting, even privately, during the Third Reich.
