Edinburgh’s Suffragettes

The Museum of Edinburgh’s exhibition Their Work Is Not Forgotten explores the past and present of political activism in Edinburgh in the centenary year of the first women receiving the right to vote. The city was the site of major protest and demonstrations in 1909 where women took to the streets to campaign for the right to vote and was home to many significant suffragettes. In this talk, Anna MacQuarrie, Curator at the Museum of Edinburgh, discusses the role Edinburgh’s women, and the city itself, played in the suffrage movement.
