About

The French painter Edgar Degas produced some of the finest portraits of the 19th century. Director General, Sir John Leighton, focusses on Degas's mid-career masterpiece, his Portrait of Diego Martelli, a painting that is a witty and affectionate record of the encounter between a French artist and an Italian writer - two very different men, but both independent thinkers and brilliant characters.

This talk will be available from Thursday 25 February via our Friends email newsletter.
