Drawing Room - Kitchen Table Edition #20

Online (via zoom)
  • Thursday 4 March, 6-6.45pm

Booking essential

The Drawing Room examines the range of possibilities within contemporary drawing practice. This session will explore some favourite experimental drawing exercises and techniques, aimed at boosting drawing confidence, kicking off with a relaxing warm-up drawing meditation to help you focus.

Led by artist Ailsa Sutcliffe, this session takes inspiration from works by Matisse within the National Galleries collection. Using cut out and collage techniques you will create abstract compositions incorporating figurative and botanical imagery.

You will need:

•      White paper (A4 or larger)

•      Selection of coloured/textured papers of your choice. These can include pages/scraps from magazines, newspapers etc.

•      Scissors

•      Glue-stick/PVA glue

•      Personal choice of sketching material (pencils, charcoal, etc)

•      Personal choice of dry colouring material (coloured pencils, pastels, crayons, pens) – make sure that your choice will enable you to cover large areas of paper quickly.

A Zoom link and brief will be sent to participants before the session.
