About

This survey exhibition of collage takes up the whole of Modern Two and is, amazingly, the first historical survey show of collage ever held, anywhere. It demonstrates that far from being a 20th century invention, collage has been an active art form for more than four hundred years. Patrick Elliott, Senior Curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, will guide Friends through this vast show of more than 250 works, ranging from 16th century ‘flap prints’ to computer-based images. Patrick will provide background information on the methods used, a variety of intriguing formats and the artists.
