Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, goes on a quest to win the hand of the beautiful Andromeda and defeat her former betrothed Calibos, who has been turned into a monster. With the help of the poet Ammon and a robot owl, Perseus must also catch and tame the winged horse Pegasus, overcome some giant scorpions, and behead the evil Medusa, all in an attempt to stop Andromeda from being sacrificed to the giant creature known as the Kraken.
This screening will be preceded by Ray Harryhausen: Movement Into Life, a documentary made by Foundation trustee and filmmaker John Walsh (twitter - @walshbros) when he was a student at the London Film School. The film looks at the stop motion animation process employed by Ray Harryhausen focusing on the creatures from his 1981 film Clash of the Titans. The voice-over was provided by Doctor Who actor Tom Baker, who had won the main role after series producer Barry Letts saw him in the Harryhausen film The Golden Voyage of Sinbad in 1973. This screening will be the first showing of a new HD scan of the 1991 documentary.
