Christopher Baker, Director of European and Scottish Art and Portraiture at the National Galleries of Scotland, will make an appearance this year at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Every January, a selection of Turner’s watercolours are exhibited at the Scottish National Gallery. Bequeathed in 1899 by Henry Vaughan, these works cement Turner’s status as one of the UK's most innovative and popular artists. Baker's richly illustrated book JMW Turner: The Vaughan Bequest, provides an authoritative commentary on the watercolours of Turner. For this event Baker celebrates Turner's legacy in conversation with literary critic and author Stuart Kelly.
