We welcome back the BP Portrait Award to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The Award is the most prestigious portrait painting competition in the world and represents the very best in contemporary portrait painting. Over the years more than 40,000 entries from at least 100 countries have been received. Friends will have the opportunity to view the exhibition and hear about the works and artists with groups led by Christopher Baker, Director of European and Scottish Art and Portraiture, and a former judge of the competition, or Julie Lawson, Chief Curator.
In order to protect our vulnerable works of art from any kind of accidental damage we kindly ask all visitors to either carry their rucksack/backpack by hand or place it in a locker.
Located in the city centre on Queen Street, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery is easy to access.
Friends of the Galleries get free unlimited entry to all exhibitions, and enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits including early exhibition access, special events and 10% discount in our cafes.
