Blots and Spots and Glorious Colour: Arthur Melville and Watercolour
- Thursday 11 February
Arthur Melville’s watercolours of the Middle East, Spain and North Africa are celebrated for their stained-glass palette, brilliant light and bold compositions, but in his lifetime his ‘blottesque’ style and ‘strange and daring colour’ confounded and dazzled his contemporaries. This talk by our Senior Curator, Charlotte Topsfield, will explore the development and technique of Scotland’s most dashing and original watercolour painter.
This talk will be available from Thursday 11 February via our Friends email newsletter. It is part of a new series of exclusive online talks providing our Friends events programme in a different format. There will be two per month, with each remaining available for two weeks so you can choose when you would like to watch them.
No booking or advance registration is required in order to view these free Friends-only talks. The links to view them will be sent out each fortnight as part of our email newsletter. If you have a Friends membership but do not currently receive our Friends email newsletter, please contact [email protected] to sign up.
