As part of the Aye Write! Festival (Glasgow, 15-25 March 2018), Alice Strang tells an alternative story of modern Scottish art.

This illustrated talk will examine the most experimental work of Scottish artists during the first half of the 20th century. It challenges the accepted view of the dominance of the Scottish Colourists and uncovers the hitherto little-known progressive Scottish art world. Alice Strang is the Senior Curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and the publication of her book coincides with an exhibition at the gallery featuring more than 100 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by over 50 artists which will be running until 10th June 2018.
