As we commemorate the end of the First World War, this lecture looks at how the war artists went on to develop very varied careers. All were heavily influenced by their experiences, even those who never referred explicitly to war in their work or their personal lives. Dr Patricia Andrew, who has written extensively on 20th century Scottish war art and artists, examines the very differing careers and work of Scottish artists making their way in the post-war world – and in some cases preparing for another war just twenty years later.
