500-piece jigsaw puzzle of The Great Wave by Katsushika Hokusai. Made by Pomegranate.

The Great Wave or simply The Wave, is a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Hokusai. It is Hokusai's most famous work, and one of the most recognizable works of Japanese art in the world.

The image depicts an enormous wave threatening three boats off the coast of the town of Kanagawa (the present-day city of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) while Mount Fuji rises in the background. It depicts the area around Mount Fuji under particular conditions, and the mountain itself appears in the background. Throughout the series are dramatic uses of Berlin blue pigment.

Enjoy the details of each cresting and frothing wave as they swallow the far-off peak of Mount Fuji when you assemble this 500-piece puzzle.

The most notable period in Hokusai's artistic life was the latter part of his career, beginning in 1830 when he was 70 years old. He began the series of landscapes he is most famous for: 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji', which included The Great Wave, off Kanagawa, probably his most iconic image.
