Limited edition screen print Untitled (Jar of Fruits), 2020 by Scottish artist Charles Avery. Printed on 300 gsm Dreadnought grey paper signed and numbered by the artist.

Produced as part of an expanding collection of works by Avery with the ‘Island’ belief systems and aesthetics in mind and can be seen adorning the fictional characters and spaces of Onomatopoeia in Avery's drawings.

This one in particular comes from one of the main cultural features of The Island, known as The Eternal Dialectic: an endless festival of philosophical composed of hundreds of debates, salons, comedies and monologues held in the bars, cafes and streets of Onomatopoeia, and which is a great tourist attraction.

This large series of works created within a specific framework is rooted in Avery's own life and upbringing on the Isle of Mull off the West coast of Scotland and could be interpreted as a philosophical meditation on art-making and different ideas of truth.

Scottish artist Charles Avery (1973, Oban, UK), lives and works in London and on the Island of Mull. He is one of the most interesting contemporary artists at present, with a considerable international reputation. Avery’s work is in numerous collections including Tate, London; Arts Council England Collection, London; Gemeentemuseum, The Hague; The National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh; Museum Voorlinden, Wassenaar; Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Deutsche Bank Collection, New York and David Roberts Art Foundation, London, amongst others.
