Genesis III by Barbara Hepworth giclée print (60 x 80 cm)
60 x 80 cm giclee art print on textured watercolour paper featuring Genesis III by Barbara Hepworth, reproduced from an original 1966 work.
Genesis III connects the abstract forms with the biblical story of the creation of the world. Two simple shapes are placed in careful relation to one another, appearing to move through a universe like planets hanging in space. Following the first unmanned and manned moon landings in 1959 and 1969, Hepworth became interested in space exploration.
Produced to accompany a major retrospective Barbara Hepworth | Art & Life, on show at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern Two) from 9 April until 2 October 2022. The largest exhibition of the artist’s work since her death in 1975, spanning her entire career.
Dame Jocelyn Barbara Hepworth DBE (10 January 1903 – 20 May 1975) was a British artist and sculptor. One of the twentieth century’s most inspiring artists and a pioneer of modernist sculpture and was one of the few female artists of her generation to achieve international prominence.
The print comes unframed and is posted rolled.
