Featuring the beautiful sculpture Mother and Child by Barbara Hepworth, from the Wakefield Art Collection. Hepworth decided to separate the mother from the child, emphasising that the mother and child are of one flesh and, at the same time, independent of each other.
Dame Barbara Hepworth DBE (10 January 1903 – 20 May 1975) was a British artist and sculptor. One of the twentieth century’s most inspiring artists and a pioneer of modernist sculpture and was one of the few female artists of her generation to achieve international prominence.
