Special limited edition coupe ceramic plate produced exclusively for the National Galleries of Scotland by Scottish artist Calum Colvin, produced as an edition of 100.

Each plate is hand decorated in Stoke-on-Trent, UK, with the artwork by Colvin, Bonaparte crossing the Saint Bernard’s Pass (after David) 2005 taking inspiration from Napoleon Crossing the Alps, by French artist Jacques-Louis David, which was the first of five versions of oil on canvas equestrian portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte in his series. This grand portrait shows the observer the inevitability of victory and at the same time orders his soldiers to follow.

Calum Colvin a Scottish artist and photographer, working and living in Scotland. He came to prominence in the mid-1980s. His early interest in sculpture led him to develop his unique style of 'constructed photography', creating small sets from everyday objects to resemble domestic interiors. More recently he has used digital technology to generate images that often ask uneasy questions about what makes one truly Scottish. He has exhibited worldwide and created a number of commissions for the National Galleries of Scotland.
