National Galleries of Scotland teams up with WWF on Great Scottish Canvas project

Curators from the National Galleries of Scotland played an instrumental role in selecting artworks made by members of the public that were shown at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, 31 October – 12 November (COP26) in Glasgow.

Emma Gillespie and Stephanie Straine co-judged entries from all over Scotland as part of WWF's Great Scottish Canvas project.

The wildlife and conservation charity invited people to share artworks and poetry with an environmental theme. As well as the COP presentation, their efforts are also being presented as an online exhibition for people to view from anywhere in the world.

The exhibition features a new poem by Alexander McCall Smith and new writing by former Makar Jackie Kay alongside 40 public entries, each chosen to bring together a vision of a greener and fairer Scotland.
