Monkey Puzzle, 2021

Rosie Wakeling-Brown (Gallery Shift Attendant)

Photograph

My background is in History of Art and I am curently a shift attendant at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery where I can often be found wandering the galleries at night singing show tunes on the stairs. I love photography and my choice of subject matter is predominantly botanical. In particular, trees and plants with strong patterns to them – a favourite being monkey puzzles. This photograph was taken in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and is of one of their oldest monkey puzzle trees. I am very pleased with how the black and white emphasises the spiral pattern of the leaves.
