Pencil, ink and pastel on paper

This drawing synthesises many things that I admire and continually find very inspiring. There is a bit of old Hollywood, a bit of fairy tale and a bit of the artificial theatricality found in dollhouses. This illustration demonstrates the transformative power of clothing. We have all been there; I have been there, starting a new job and being given a dreadful uniform and suddenly people not seeing you beyond that. Maybe that is why I choose to give my drawing strong dark ink tones, instead of my usual colourful watercolours.
