The fourth generation of a family of painters, Pierre Parrocel was born in Avignon and appears to have spent his career in France. Primarily a painter of religious works in the Baroque tradition, he is best known for decorating and painting commissions for a number of churches in southern France, including the Chapel of the Black Penitents and the Cathedral at Avignon.
