The son of a photographer, Marcus Adams established his own reputation first as an architectural and then as a leading child photographer. He set up his studio in London in 1919 with two associates with whom he shared processing materials and darkroom assistants. In 1926 he set up his children's studio, to look like a living room with a disguised camera. Adams took official photographs of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family over a period spanning thirty years from 1926-56. He documented the Queen's life from her infancy to her becoming a monarch and a mother.
