Cerith Wyn Evans was born in Llanelli, Wales. He studied at Central St Martin’s School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in London. On graduation, Wyn Evans worked as an assistant to the film director Derek Jarman and made a number of his own short films. He began to make sculpture and installations in the 1990s, but film has remained an influence in his work. Using a broad range of media, from neon light-tubes to video, photography, mirrors and phosphorescent inks, his works explore concepts of perception, representation and language.
