Amelia Long was born in London and studied watercolour painting under British artist James Girtin. In 1793 she married Charles Long, Baron of Farnborough, adopting the title Lady Farnborough. An accomplished painter, she was also a skilled horticulturalist. Upon purchasing Bromley Hill House in Kent, Long designed the gardens and various garden ornaments for the space including large urns. She is best known for her landscape watercolour paintings, and her work is held in various British collections including the V&A and Tate.
