About this artwork
This portrait of the Dundee-born sculptor, William Turnbull (1922-2012), shows him surrounded by the plaster figures that would shortly earn him the reputation as one of the most significant young sculptors in Britain. Kar preferred to photograph artists in close proximity to their work and materials making the connection between the individual and the creative process quite obvious.
