About this artwork

Made during Hunter’s 3-month residency at Location 1, Manhattan, this print is part of a series inspired by early Modernist thinkers. This statement makes reference to Marx’s Communist Manifesto in which he wrote, ‘everlasting uncertainty and agitation distinguish the bourgeois epoch’. Hunter uses bright, graphic colours and crisp texts which echo designs from the Modernist era. During his stay in New York, the artist also created t-shirts with Modernist slogans printed onto them. Hunter explains his selection of text for this series: ‘I liked things that were a bit like instructions, but not very strident, more poetic.’
