About this artwork
In 1975 Warhol produced a portfolio of ten screenprints of Mick Jagger, the lead singer of British rock band the Rolling Stones. In conjunction with this Warhol produced a series of drawings and collages based on photographic images. This work was almost certainly produced by projecting the original photograph on to a sheet of paper then drawing around the outline in pencil. In several of the other works he also incorporated torn coloured paper, creating shapes of colour like he did with ink during the screenprinting process. Jagger’s floppy hair and good looks combined with the Stone’s bad boy image certainly appealed to Warhol’s sensibilities.
