About this artwork

Bobby 'wishes he was back there', due to the sense of camaraderie shared underground: 'Miners are a different class. Everyone was a comedian'. His pride and his belief in his community hasn't been dented by the accusation, made by Margaret Thatcher in 1984, that he and many others, were 'one of the terrorists [sic] within.' (Prime Minister Thatcher’s notes show she had planned to use the phrase ‘the enemy within’, condemning the miners and the Labour Party, in her party conference speech in 1984, but it was never aired.) Bobby McCullogh, Cumnock Juniors Social Club, 14 March 2023.
