About this artwork
Miners' social clubs were the hub of the local community, providing entertainment, dancing, darts, pool and snooker, education classes and cultural events. The Beatles, The Who and The Hollies were all booked to perform at the community centre in the mining town of Auchinleck in East Ayrshire in the 1960s ... and only The Beatles failed to appear.
