Felicitas Vogler

Rotorua, New Zealand

About this artwork

Felicitas Vogler and her husband, the artist Ben Nicholson, frequently travelled together around Europe. However, after their separation in 1971 Vogler began to venture further afield. The photographs from her travels are characterised by their unconventional compositions, an awareness of colour and light, and her underlying desire to capture “something more than you actually see”. This vibrant photograph shows Rotorua, a lake in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand, with a city of the same name on its shores. The area is characterised by its geothermal activity which makes it a popular tourist destination.
