About this artwork

The inspiration for En el Metro came whilst Quintero was a student, travelling daily by underground to and from art college in Madrid. His intention was to reproduce the oppressive, claustrophobic sensation he found in making this journey. To aid him in this he managed to borrow two underground train doors which he erected in his studio and behind which his models were able to pose.
