A netter hauling fish back to shore through a hailstorm at Kinnaber, Angus
About this artwork
This image is from the series entitled ‘Catching the Tide’ on which McPherson began work in 1995. Having initially documented the working lives of the salmon netters on the east coast, the photographer is now looking to work across Scotland. McPherson's photographs are invaluable documentary evidence of a trade that is dying out. They are images of haunting beauty, showing the fishermen pitted against the weather in the midst of infinite sea and sky.
