Josef Herman
Miners (Study for Festival of Britain Mural)
About this artwork
Following a holiday in South Wales, Josef Herman made a major series of paintings on the theme of miners. This work is a study for a much larger painting executed for the Festival of Britain exhibition in London in 1951. Herman was originally from Poland but fled in 1938, eventually settling in Britain.
