Rear Stand, Ibrox
About this artwork
It probably won’t surprise you to learn that Malcolm Hill was an architect as well as a keen photographer. In this image he breaks down stadiums into their component parts. He shows us sharp lines, intriguing angles and the detail of a window that perfectly mirrors the sign above it. Hill chose a photographic technique that suited his style. Gelatin silver prints give a wide tonal range, the solid dark areas and bright whites helping to emphasise architectural features.
