About this artwork
This photograph shows Billingham's mother Liz and her cat. The artist says that his mother "likes pets and things that are decorative." Billingham's photographs show a no-holds-barred representation of his family, where sometimes the pets seem to be the most normal family members. He has denied that there is any political agenda behind his photographs, insisting they are merely loving portrayals of his family.
