Stephen Hendry, b. 1969. Snooker player
About this artwork
Hendry is one of the greatest snooker players of all time. This portrait is made from a photograph of Hendry leaning over the green baize of a snooker table to pot a ball. This is interwoven with thousands of copies of a single postcard. The full picture of the postcard, which Mach found in the Natural History Museum, can only be seen in the bottom right hand corner - the earth seen from space. David Mach is making a witty reference to Hendry's success - he is on top of the world and the world is just another snooker ball.
