About this artwork
Aly Bain, a famous fiddler, who plays in a traditional Scottish style, was born in Lerwick in Shetland. Although he plays solo, he is best known for the work he has done with his group, 'The Boys of the Lough'. The photographer tells us about taking this picture: 'I put down a bottle of whisky and an ashtray and he played for four or five hours non-stop'. The blur and colour of the image captures the energy of the man and the attraction of the music
