About this artwork
This sculpture is closely related to Paolozzi’s 1954 collage work, Automobile Head. The ‘head’ here is an indistinct mash–up of machine parts, barely recognisable as an organic being. Is it human? Or amphibian, as the title – an exaggerated phonetic spelling of crocodile – suggests?
