About this artwork
Over 100,000 of us live on one of Scotland’s ninety-three inhabited islands. Island life presents practical challenges. How can schools be maintained with only a few pupils? How can adequate healthcare be provided so far from a hospital? The community of Eigg has worked hard to create a sustainable infrastructure for the island and now has its own broadband network and renewable electric grid - Eigg Electric. Residents hope to make the island a desirable place to live for younger generations, including siblings Finn, Betsy and Niamh, shown here.
