Prince Charles Edward Stuart, 1720 - 1788
About this artwork
This badge takes its likeness from the ‘Highlander’ portrait attributed to Robert Strange which shows Prince Charles in a tartan jacket, bonnet and cockade. As such, it probably post-dates the 1745 Rising and, as on most engraved Jacobite glass, the image of the young prince is used to assert the persistence of passive resistance in defeat.
