About this artwork
The obverse (the side displaying the principal image) of this medal shows Prince James as the infant Hercules strangling serpents in his bed. The Latin words translate as ‘Cradles bring death to monsters’. The reverse shows a coronet surrounding three feathers, the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales.
